The Neighbourhood

Group BBQ

In a big city it's not easy to find a close knit community that promotes connection on every level.  As one of many examples of that, the whole street gets together twice a year for an outdoor street BBQ and potluck dinner to socialize, share a laugh and bond.

And whether it's a couple of eggs, advice on local daycare or a snow shovel, if there's something you need, just post it on the private Facebook Page, and your fellow neighbours will do what they can to help.

As well, this home backs onto a dead-end laneway, which provides the unique opportunity for the many kids to enjoy safe play of running through a sprinkler, pick-up hockey games or jumping bikes over a ramp!

In that same laneway, the adults enjoy coming together in the warmer months to share a beer, glass of wine or a coffee and good conversation.

And once a year, all of the surrounding neighbourhoods come together for one of the city's biggest yard sales, which is another amazing community building event.

The Schools

Wilkinson Pubic School

Our own two children have attended Wilkinson Public school, so we can personally attest to the top notch teachers, engaged parents and exciting yearly activities.  With a progressive approach to education, Wilkinson cares deeply about broadening their young minds to see the world well beyond the walls of the school.

Danforth Collegiate Institute

While our own children are still in elementary school, we have heard nothing but great things about this school, which is a 5 minute walk door to door.

Riverdale Collegiate Institute

Some families in the neighbourhood choose to send their children to this high school and again, it's also considered a great school.  It's just down the street on Jones Avenue, and many kids from the community walk back and forth every day.

Earl Grey Middle School

When it's time for grade six, your children will only have to walk south for about eight minutes to reach this highly rated school.  It attracts awesome kids from the surrounding neighbourhoods, all coming from engaged families.

Ecole Secondaire Michelle O'Bonsawin

Serving students all the way from elementary to high school, this brand new state of the art facility is offered to families that want their children to be educated entirely in French.
